Safeguarding & Child Protection (Group 2 Core) training

This half-day safeguarding awareness training is suitable for all those working with young people in a variety of settings, across multiple agencies.  Reduced price for Devon SCP participants £49+vat per person.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the relevant Legislation, Statutory and Non-Statutory guidance’s, and how they underpin our daily practice to safeguard and protect children
  • Have an awareness of what may make children more vulnerable
  • Have an increased knowledge of different types of abuse and wider safeguarding concerns, and identify possible signs and symptoms
  • Be clear on allegations, the role of the LADO and whistleblowing
  • Gain knowledge of the local processes within Devon for reporting concerns

This 2-day training course helps structure and approach supervision using an established supervision model to empower staff and focus on the experience and progress of young people.

Designed by highly experienced senior managers, the course addresses key dilemmas in balancing the needs of the organisation, the employee and the young people to create a different kind of conversation which both supervisees and supervisors find effective.  Reduced price for Devon SCP participants £199+vat per person.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the principles behind supervision models
  • Recognise and apply reflective supervision
  • Undertake dynamic risk assessment during supervision
  • Create clear, focused and reviewable plans and actions

This 2-day training course explores in depth process, culture, risk assessment, the organisation and a root cause analysis approach to reflection.  Whilst safeguarding training is a key requirement for all, this learning often does not provide the further skills around analysis and communication to feel confident in such important judgement calls when staff and young people depend on us.

Our course is in depth, aligned to the guidance, and built on the experience of hundreds of leaders who have previously completed the course.  Reduced price for Devon SCP participants £199+vat per person.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Enhance safeguarding analysis skills
  • Write effective referrals
  • Communicate with local authorities
  • Use escalation processes
  • Contain staff and organisational anxiety
  • Focus on regulatory requirements, while keeping the focus very firmly on the young person

This course, delivered over two half-day sessions, is aimed at managers and staff within organisations who are responsible for recruiting staff to work with children and vulnerable adults.

People in any organisation can use their position of trust to abuse vulnerable children and adults. Others do not hold true to their values and neglect the people they work with or fail to speak up. This course looks at how to run a recruitment process that puts as many barriers in the way of potential abusers as possible in order to keep service users safe.  Reduced price for Devon SCP participants £120+vat per person.

The course covers:
  • Safer recruitment and the wider context of safeguarding
  • Prevalence of abuse and profile of abusers
  • How abusers operate within organisations
  • Features of a safer recruitment process
  • Making the right decisions: interview and selection
  • Maintaining an ongoing culture of vigilance
