the course

Smoking and vaping prevalence in care can be 23 times higher than other young people, while training and confidence of staff to intervene is low. In 2023, 20.5% of children ages 11-17 years old had tried vaping up from 15.8% in 2022 and 13.9% in 2020. This programme supports the development of comprehensive strategies to promote adherence to smoke-free and vape-free policies within residential homes for looked after young people, and to empower staff to intervene and access support pathways for our young people.
