the course

Smoking prevalence in care can be 23 times higher than other young people, while training and confidence of staff to intervene is low. This programme supports the development of comprehensive strategies to promote adherence to smoke-free policies within residential units for looked after young people, and to empower staff to intervene and access support pathways for our young people.

the trainer

Chris Freestone is one of our independent people. Chris has been a nurse and nurse lecturer, lecturer at Exeter College and head teacher at the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust, the director of an independent fostering agency and a lead inspector for CSCI and Ofsted. With her depth of knowledge about health and social care outcomes, together with what motivates young people, she inspires ideas and approaches that work for young people, are accessible to staff and meet the regulatory requirements.
